The Bold Move You’re Ready For—
If You Make This One Mindset Shift
If You Make This One Mindset Shift
There’s a bold move that keeps calling to you.
A decision that’s been quietly tugging at you for weeks, maybe months.
It lingers—nudging you in quiet moments, meetings, and those late-night reflections filled with frustration or longing.
But still, you hesitate.
Why?
It’s not because you lack ability. It’s because you’re waiting to feel 100% ready.
You’re waiting for the fear to disappear.
You’re waiting for the perfect plan, the ideal timing, or the green light from someone else.
Here’s the truth: readiness is rarely a feeling.
It’s a mindset.
What’s at Stake: The Hidden Cost of Playing It Safe
Research shows that indecision erodes leadership credibility. A 2023 DDI Global Leadership Forecast found that only 13% of leaders feel very effective at leading through change. And slow decision-making was a top reason cited for stalled progress.
When leaders hesitate, uncertainty spreads.
Teams second-guess.
Momentum stalls.
Opportunities slip away.
Bold leadership doesn’t mean reckless risk. It means making courageous, values-driven decisions even when you don’t have all the answers. That kind of leadership inspires trust and fuels forward movement for your team and organization.
The Real Reason You’re Stuck
You don’t need more time—you need a shift in how you think about fear, failure, and leadership.
Most people believe boldness comes after confidence. But more often, it works the other way around.
Confidence grows because you act boldly.
That means the bold move you’re ready for may not feel comfortable.
It will feel uncertain, risky, and even scary.
That’s the nature of breakthroughs.
The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything
The boldest move isn’t external—it starts when you rewrite the narrative in your mind. The moment fear stops calling the shots, everything shifts.
Here’s the gamechanger:
Stop waiting to feel ready. Start choosing to act anyway.
Trade perfectionism for progress.
Shift from ‘I need to be sure’ to ‘I’m willing to try.’
From ‘What if I fail?’ to ‘What if this works?
Or try one of my favorite reframes:
“Fear isn’t a stop sign; it’s a sign I’m heading somewhere new.”
Now ask yourself:
- What bold decision or action have I been avoiding, and why?
- What story am I telling myself about what could go wrong?
- What story might be even more powerful—about what could go right?
You don’t need permission to go for it. You need perspective.
A Coaching Insight: From Someday to Now
When I coach leaders through transition points—such as career pivots, team challenges, or new ventures—it’s rarely about skills or strategy.
It’s almost always about mindset.
Once they reframe the fear and reconnect with their “why,” the bold move that once felt impossible becomes inevitable.
Take my client Charise, for example. She had a bold vision for a podcast—something that would elevate women’s voices and spark meaningful conversations. But at first, she saw it as a long-term goal, something she’d pursue “eventually.”
During a coaching session, I asked a simple question that sparked an insight—and a mindset shift that led to action: “What’s one small step you could take now?”
That shift in perspective made all the difference.
She made a decision.
She took the first step—even though it felt early, imperfect, and uncertain.
And in doing so, she sparked momentum. What started as a someday vision became a powerful platform for change.
That’s what bold leadership looks like:
✅A fresh perspective.
✅A clear decision.
✅The courage to move, especially when you’re unsure.
Make the Move
Courage over certainty. Purpose over perfection. Your bold move doesn’t need to be massive. It just needs to be intentional.
Maybe it’s:
- Speaking up.
- Letting go.
- Finally, starting the thing you’ve been postponing.
You’re more ready than you think.
The future you want doesn’t need a perfect version of you—it requires a brave one.
So here’s your invitation:
- Reframe the fear.
- Choose the mindset of momentum.
- Take the first step.
