Take Time to Reflect and Celebrate

Reflect & Celebrate

The theme of November was Gratitude, in particular, taking time to be grateful every day for great and small things. This month we’re pivoting to reflecting on the year and celebrating accomplishments.

As 2022 winds down, consider what you learned, how you’ve grown, and all you achieved. Even though things may not have gone according to plan, I am sure some things exceeded expectations.

A series of research studies concluded that reflection improves performance. Francesca Gino of Harvard Business School said, “Now more than ever we seem to be living lives where we’re busy and overworked, and our research shows that if we’d take some time out for reflection, we might be better off.”

Reflection Tools

So to help you reap these benefits, here are two tools to get you in the swing of reflection.

1.  Gibbs Reflective Cycle – Graham Gibbs is an academic who studies self-reflection. In 1988, he developed a six-step process to aid in learning from experiences. You can use this model to reflect on past experiences (personal or professional) and create a plan for similar situations that may arise in the future.

2.  Celebrate Achievements Affirmation Worksheet – Positive affirmations are helpful to shift perspective, build confidence, and motivate success. That’s why I created the I Celebrate My Achievements Affirmation Worksheet. Click here to download it.

In conclusion, reflection is a powerful exercise for both cultivating gratitude and boosting performance. Take time today to reflect. You’ll be glad you did.
